ACCOUNT DIRECTOR

PR Worx is looking to employ a dynamic and experienced Account Director, who is a motivated self-starter, a team player, understands the importance of customer service, able to work under pressure and manage multiple clients and deadlines.

The AD has over ten years of public relations agency experience. The AD serves as a primary client contact, providing strategic direction and guiding the execution of the tactical elements of clients’ public relations campaigns. The AD reports directly to the Managing Director and to the Operations Director and is responsible for the daily oversight, management and implementation of assigned clients’ integrated communications campaigns. The AD will manage and mentor Account Managers, Senior Account Executives, Account Executives and Account Coordinators.

 

The AD has mastered the strategic development and tactical execution of integrated marketing communications campaigns and has demonstrated crisis communications experience. ADs should have exceptional leadership and client relationships.

Job Description:

  • Consults on a range of marketing-communication techniques available and recommend them as appropriate, and shows proficiency in the implementation of these campaigns. 

  • Proficient in crisis communications and understands the priorities when dealing with clients and the media.

  • Demonstrates sound knowledge of our clients’ business and the industry in which they operate; you also understand related industries and their impact on your clients’ business.

  • Demonstrates the ability to build and manage strategic press relationships, achieving exceptional coverage for your clients through strategic and creative work with trade, specialist and broad reach media.

  • Implements smart methodology and delivers strategic and comprehensive PR services placed in the context of clients’ businesses and the industry in which they operate.

  • Effectively manages core coverage campaigns such as features and review programs.

  • Serves the press to the highest professional standards.

  • Demonstrates the ability to produce high quality written material in a timely manner.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in all areas of writing including plans, opinion pieces, presentations and proposals, all of which reflect a clear understanding of your client’s business and industry.

  • Provides day-to-day management of client campaigns and is regarded as the first point of contact by clients, inspiring their loyalty and trust.

  • Develops and drives strategy, planning and budget setting processes.

  • Ensures all work produced by teams is completed in a timely manner, is branded and produced to the highest possible standard.

  • Proactively seeks opportunities to contribute to client retention/growth and client satisfaction.

  • Proactively identifies potential clients.

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with client contact(s).

  • Develops and maintains successful relationships with key media members.

  • Successfully and respectfully manages a team of Account Manager, Senior Account Executives, Account Executives, Account Coordinators and Writers as assigned.

  • Develops, implements and oversees targeted public relations strategies for clients.

  • Guides PR team in the development and execution of tactical plans for clients.

  • Oversees regular client reporting – weekly, monthly and quarterly.

  • Keeps abreast of each client’s industry, competition and coverage.

  • Continually looks to identify various client opportunities.

  • Oversees and assists with team’s identification, pitching and follow-up with editorial opportunities and new media opportunities.

  • Writes and publishes articles when appropriate.

  • Attends weekly status meetings with client and events, when appropriate and required.

  • Oversees the development of press kit documents as well as news releases and pitch letters.

  • Develops press tour schedules, appointments; secures meetings at trade shows.

  • Works with social media team to strategise client posting plans.

  • Gets actively involved in tenders, strategies and pitches.

  • Serves as a mentor for junior staff members.

 

Responsibilities


People:

  • Demonstrates leadership qualities including the ability to motivate, inspire, delegate, empower and develop relationships with team members.

  • Manages direct reports in accordance with PR Worx’s brand values, people and operational principles.

  • Ensures effective skills development programs are in place for your direct reports to enable them to deliver on their objectives.

  • Demonstrates the ability to lead and inspire your team, as appropriate.

Finance:

  • Contributes to the overall achievement of your business unit’s business plan and client Service Level Agreements.

  • Manages monthly clients Scopes of Work for monthly retainers or agreed-upon deliverables.

  • Manages and implements client budgets.

Operations:

  • Oversees and reviews your team’s timesheets to ensure programs are run on time and on budget.

  • Ensures your teams follow PR Worx reporting protocol.

Knowledge, abilities, education

Communications, Marketing or Journalism degree, or at least ten years related experience and demonstrated skills as senior management.  Corporate affairs and crisis communications background.  Ability to manage diverse daily workloads and priorities.  Established media relationships and contacts are a must. Additionally, you need to have strong written and verbal skills, in-depth media knowledge, computer literacy, and a proven track record of managing the workflow of busy accounts.
